for PUBLIC OFFICIALS ...

Bipartisan Leadership Saves Lives and Money

Public policy promoting change and vehicle safety improvements is difficult and does not happen without strong leadership at both the state and federal levels.

Highway safety is government at its best. It's nonpartisan, with allies all along the political spectrum. And every success is defined by extraordinary political leadership.

Since 1990, more than 100 elected officials, citizen activists and other highway safety supporters have been honored with Advocates' "Safety Leader Award."

The award recognizes the outstanding contribution by individuals who have shown leadership, innovation, dedication and commitment through personal efforts and/or professional activities.

Advocates provides public officials opportunities to work with the business community and state, local and national advocacy groups. In doing so, legislators and policy makers are linked with grassroots support to wage battle on issues at every level of government. Advocates' involvement in a public policy issue brings to the debate political expertise, accurate information and dedication to the cause.

Each victory has the same thing in common: when those in power commit themselves to do the right thing, lives and money are saved.
